Barbie officially turns 60 this year. According to History.com, Barbie was first introduced to the world at the American Toy Fair in New York on March 9th, 1959. Barbie has inspired and encouraged young girls to express themselves and be who they are for 60 years now. And over the years, Barbie has become more inclusive and more sensitive to ideas regarding representation and beauty. The iconic doll has continued to push the boundaries on what is beautiful and encourage girls to follow their dreams. She's been so influential, it'd be hard to find a woman or young girl who didn't have at least one Barbie growing up.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary, Mattel has officially teamed up with Target to release a new special collection of clothes and accessories that will continue to inspire girls to be themselves and feel like a fashionista, just like Barbie. The collection includes 8 different pieces of clothing and accessories that are inspired by Barbie and her message. The items include shirts and tees with messages like, "Girls can do anything," "Girls can change the world," and "Create the future" bold on the front. Colorful tool skirts and a nice jean jacket are also part of the collection.

Among the accessories, there's a tote bag, sunglasses, and a watch. All the items are great for girls who love girl power and love to rep their favorite doll. The collection is only available for a limited time, up until April 21st. Until then, the entire collection can be found at select Target stores and on their online store.

Since 1959, many other doll brands have come and gone as new generations of kids find new styles and doll types that they like. But none have been able to encapsulate the magic and charm to become a mainstay in the doll market for generations and generations, quite like Barbie has.
