If you live in New York or in the Brooklyn area, there is a great place to look for children's books, vintage or new, and for young readers and older readers that you can check out. For your little reader that loves to read stories and interact with others who love to read, having the right space for them to do that is very important. Stories is just the place for that, encouraging kids to read and providing events to bring them even closer to great children's authors.

Stories is both a bookstore and a Storytelling Lab that offers many different book events, clubs, and classes for those who love to tell stories of their own. Their bookstore contains beloved children's books both old and new, including chapter books, picture books, and fairytales.

They also help organize events like author storytimes where kids can have stories read to them by the author, and monthly readings and discussions. There's also a book-of-the-month book club for younger kids up to 5 years old to encourage reading at an early age.

If your kids love to read and tell their own stories but need a little extra help doing it, the Storytelling lab is one of the great things about Stories. They offer classes and programs for after school, weekends, and during the summer. From dance to art, to writing, their classes and labs teach kids about all the different ways to tell stories and express themselves. Classes require registration and aren't free, but there are plenty of drop-in events that are free or perfectly affordable.

Their free storytimes are on Sundays at 10:30 am, and staff hosted storytimes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 11:30 am and 12:30 pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am. If you love reading with your kids and are looking for a charming place for books in Brooklyn, check out Stories at 458 Bergen St.
