It was noon here in NYC and I was so excited to get to be on the phone with Mackenzie Ziegler for our cover story. Mackenzie, or “Kenzie”, despite the fact that she has achieved so much in her rising career at such a young age, was so humble and such a sweetheart. I also love her giggles. No wonder she has a huge fan base that loves her!

You have been dancing since you were very young. Did you find it difficult as a little girl to have to follow such tight schedule?
It was very hard but having a mother like my mom did help a lot. She’s really good with time management and all of that.

How did you cope with that?
It was very hard but it was fine with me. I was very little so I didn’t really know what was going on (giggles).

What was the most challenging experience that you have ever had?
I would say learning a dance three days every week, that was really hard for me. It was getting better after I kept doing it every week. But definitely the first week we did was very hard.

What was the most exciting news have you have had?
Probably was when my song was number one on iTunes and I was like only nine or ten when that happened. Yeah, that was probably the most exciting news that I’ve ever gotten. I had a party with my friends and family.

You have done and succeeded in many things- dance, sing, act, model, etc. What is your favorite of them all?
I love them all so I can’t really choose. I love them for all different reasons but definitely love them all the same.

What else do you want to do or try your hands on?
I definitely want to try gymnastics because I feel like I would be really good at it since I tumbled in the past. Yeah, I think I’m gonna start that. I’m so excited. Well, I did it at dance but it wasn’t really like all the stuff that I wanna try.

What do you believe makes you so successful and popular?
I would say singing or dancing because I haven’t done a lot of acting. I’m starting to get more into it but I think dancing was the (most beneficial) because of the show. I am happy with all of this and I love to interact with everyone ‘cause I feel like, I don’t know, I just love (the fans) so much and they support me so much.

What do you love to do in your free time?
I love to hang out with my friends because, with my tight schedule, I don’t have a lot of time to do that. So, I love to hang out with my friends and family.

What is your favorite memory?
I would say watching my sister perform at the Sia concert. I was so proud of her and she’s so good. I was so happy when she was on stage.

That’s awesome! Growing up in a house where both siblings are successful, does it put any strain on you to compete against each other?
No, we are very supportive of one another. We support each other all the way and I’m so happy for my sister of what she’s done. So yeah, I wouldn’t want to compete against her for anything other than dance because we had to do that in competitions (giggles).

I’ve heard that you are not currently living with your sister. How do you stay connected with her?
We FaceTime and text a lot because she’s been gone for so long. So definitely FaceTime is the main part of it.

Does it affect your relationship with her at all?
It actually brings us closer together because we were with each other for like 24/7 and we would fight a lot but when I saw her, we were so excited we didn’t fight once which is great (giggles). So yeah, it has brought us closer together.

Tell us about your musical.ly account. We know you are on there a lot; do you enjoy having your fans so connected with you through it.
I have a lot of fans connecting with me. I love talking to them I just started live.ly. It’s like a broadcasting app connected to musical.ly so it helps me to interact with them more.I love it so much.

There are so many accounts that look like yours. Which one is the real one?
It’s just @mackenzieziegler. I have a little crown in the corner of my profile picture so that might be the easier way to find me.

Whose accounts do you follow?
I mostly follow my friends on there as I love to see what they are doing with musical.ly. I also follow those musical.ly kids that are famous.

Give us some scoop- any breaking news that you can share with our readers? Concerts, Movie, Guest Appearance, Trips?
I just did a song with Johnny Orlando. I’m not sure when it is gonna to be coming out but it’s gonna come out soon. It’s a duet.

Wow! That’s exciting! Your fans love you and we know that you have some favorite fan moments. Tell us about a few of those moments.
I love getting to meet them and I definitely love when there are so many people at my events. It makes me so happy that they come out and support me. Fans gave us a lot of presents. Sometimes I would get pillowcases of my celebrity crush. My sister got a grandfather clock. I got snow globe with my name on it and other stuff that are in my room right now. Also, they bring a lot of posters too, which I love. Definitely, I would say the blanket that they got me. It’s a blanket of me and my friends on it. So cute! I use it all the time.

How do you see yourself a year from now?
I will be dancing but I want to see more of acting and stuff.

The holidays are coming up, how do the Zieglers celebrate the holidays?
We always have a family dinner with my family. It’s always so much fun. I get to hang out with my cousins ‘cause I don’t get to see them a lot so it’s definitely special. I do have a big family.

Do you have time to play with your friends?
I have neighbors that are close to me and they are my age. So, it’s fun to hang out with them and also my dance friends that I hang out with a lot.

Do they treat you differently?
No, they treat me normal. I’ve known them since I was little so they treat me like a normal kid which I love.

What is your day like?
My day is hectic but I really like when I’m busy ‘causeI don’t like being bored. I’ve been home for like a month now so pretty much dance and school and all of that. But I’m homeschooled so it’s not that bad. I was just in LA (recording songs), Dallas (a photoshoot), and Washington DC to see my sister perform. It was a busy week for me but it was very fun.

Do you have time for your family?
I see my family a lot now that I’m off the show and I’m less busy. I love my family so I’m happy that I have a lot of time for that now.
